We are a disabled friendly surgery.
All our staff are aware of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 & observe its rulings.
On our website we have the ability for patients to choose from 3 sizes of font to enable easier viewing of all the website content.
At this moment we have no website facilities to assist the hard of hearing but this is not considered a priority with such a visual website.
To assist those patients with physical disabilities when arriving at the surgery we have:
- An automatic front door
- All GP consulting rooms are on the ground floor and there is easy access to the waiting areas and also the reception desk.
- The practice nurses and health care assistants are located on the first floor and we have lift access.
- The self check-in screen is situated at a realistic level for all wheelchair users.
Within the constraints of the building itself, we are satisfied that we have done as much as possible to make our Disabled Patients welcome.
There are several toilets within the building. The ground floor toilet is wider to allow for disabled access.
The staff are trained to assist any disabled patient with access into the building, around the building and to the toilets.
We also have a 'loop system' for those who have hearing impairment.
When a disabled patient arrives outside the surgery they can either park on the car park(entrance on Jackson Avenue - there are two bays for disabled use) or on Thompson Avenue itself (as long as they exhibit their Blue Badge).
We also allow Guide Dogs into the surgery for those who need them and there are clear sign to confirm this facility.
For anyone who has communication difficulties we also provide private rooms (where possible) for conversations to take place.
If in doubt please ask our Reception staff who will be more than pleased to help.
